Surfing Photography
"The photographs in this gallery aim to capture the exhilarating action, raw power, and unique environment of surfing at various breaks around the world. To get right into the heart of the waves, many shots were taken from the water using my Sony A7III paired with G Master 70-200mm f/2.8' or a versatile 24-105mm f/4 G' lens, all secured within an Aquatech water housing for protection. For capturing the scene from land with stability and smooth tracking of surfers across the waves, I often employ a 200-600mm on a tripod equipped with a gimbal head. Additionally, as a licensed drone pilot, I utilize aerial perspectives with my Mavic 2 Pro to showcase the surfers' connection to the vast ocean and the unique topography of the coastline. My goal across these different vantage points is to convey the speed, skill, and sheer beauty inherent in the sport of surfing."
Small Wedding and Family Photography
"The images within this gallery are dedicated to capturing the heartfelt connections and authentic moments that define small weddings and family life here on Oahu. My focus is less on rigid posing and more on documenting the genuine interactions, emotions, and unique stories unfolding naturally. Whether it's the quiet intimacy of an elopement, the laughter shared during a family gathering on the beach, or the simple joys of everyday connection, I strive to preserve these fleeting moments. For this type of photography, I typically rely on my A7Riii paired with lenses like the 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master zoom for versatility in dynamic situations'. My aim is always to create comfortable, relaxed environments where true personalities can shine, resulting in photographs that serve as cherished memories of love and togetherness."
Landscape and Wildlife Photography
"This gallery, Wildlife and Landscape Photography, showcases my exploration of both the breathtaking landscapes and the fascinating wildlife found locally across the diverse ecosystems of Hawaii, to the many other countries and destinations I'm lucky enough to shoot. Photographing these subjects requires patience, dedication, and often involves seeking out specific light conditions during early mornings or late evenings. Whether framing a grand vista of the Waikiki skyline with my drone, or capturing a glimpse of elusive wildlife such as monk seals, the goal is always to portray the scene with authenticity and respect for nature. My equipment varies depending on the subject: for sweeping landscapes, I frequently use my A7iii and a tripod for optimal sharpness and dynamic range. When focusing on wildlife, a long telephoto and gimbal is crucial for capturing detailed images from a respectful distance. Through these images, I hope to share the profound beauty and importance of our natural world."
